Eco-Entrepreneurship: Final Pitch Presentation

This class focused on the process of creating a business idea that was both profitable and sustainable. This involved putting together interviews, creating surveys, researching target customers, analyzing financial goals, and evaluating different frameworks. This artifact is the final project in which my group and I created a pitch for an interactive recycling module that schools could use to increase education and awareness about recycling on their campus. This was one of my favorite honors courses because I liked that I was able to learn about all the steps that it takes to create a successful business such as learning about the customer and analyzing profit margins, while also focusing on an idea that would encourage sustainability.

Web Scraping:
G Adventures Trip Analysis

Web Scraping is a class offered by the Data Science Academy and it counts for honors credit. After taking my Python Applications class (featured on the Computer Science Projects page), I wanted to dive deeper into how web scraping works with Python. I created a project using Beautiful Soup and Selenium to scrape travel data from of a group travel website to decide which trip would be the best to go on. I liked that this class expanded upon my Python knowledge and I appreciated that the Data Science Academy classes were being offered for honors credit.

Leadership with an Ethical Perspective:
Corporate Values Framework Presentation

This class is part of the Shelton Leadership Course and was also available for honors credit. Through this class, I learned about different ethical frameworks and how they relate to leading and to one’s own values. For the final project, my team and I had to create our own ethical framework and describe how it could be used in a leadership setting. As someone who has a goal to be a leader both professionally and otherwise, it was really beneficial to learn about the frameworks behind different decision-making processes and the impact of being able to lead ethically.
