Bank of America Internship
The summer after freshman year I participated in my first internship, which was at Bank of America. I worked at their Charlotte headquarters as a Technical Analyst on the ATM Software team. This was a great experience because I was able to learn about the inner workings of ATMs and work on a summer-long project using the Angular web development framework to modernize an internal website that showcased data about over 10,000 ATMs. This internship started my interest in frontend development which has continued through my senior year.Â

SAS Internship
SAS is the company I have worked for the last two summers and where I work currently as a year-round intern. The summer before my junior year I worked on the Visual Analytics team using React to update the user interface of and create new features for the Visual Analytics product. The summer of my senior year up until the present, I have worked on the Intelligent Decisioning team using React to add features to the user interface of the Intelligent Decisioning product. Additionally, I have done some DevOps work for this team such as migrating some of the Intelligent Decisioning repositories over to GitHub and setting up build actions and workflows on GitHub for these repositories. During both summers I created posts to present to other interns and general employees what I had worked on. Both of these internship increased my technical programming knowledge as well as soft skills like working on a team in a professional setting and public speaking.Â
Saudi Arabia Cultural Competency Trip
My sophomore year I applied and was accepted to go on a week-long trip to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to attend computer science-based workshops and develop cultural competency. We were hosted by students from King Abdulaziz University and were able to attend computer science talks, cultural talks, and Jeddah excursions with them. The computer science workshops were a great learning experience, but I have to say that I loved the cultural talks that we had even more because they really showed me how different cultures can have different priorities and values. Some excursions we went on included walks around Jeddah and to the old town Al-Balad, boating on the Red Sea, and going Jeep riding through the desert. This trip was an absolutely amazing experience and one of the opportunities that I cherish the most from college.Â
